Here we go again…

Well, it’s February 1st, 2015, exactly one year from the last time I wrote, professing that I had changed my ways and was going to get it together “this year.” And then…more life happened. 2014 brought many, many, many changes, some good, some bad, some quite devastating. So it goes.

At any rate, I will again attempt to be more faithful about updating this rarely-seen-and-never-read blog, but for my own reasons. I used to read and write and create a lot, and I miss it all. This year I’ve pledged (yes, pledged) to read at least one book per month. So far, so good. Yesterday—the last day of January—I finished The Two by Irving Wallace and Amy Wallace, a biography of Siamese Twins Chang and Eng published in 1978. It was at times fascinating and boring, then heartbreaking as it ended with the deaths of the twins, and the brief summary of the lives and deaths of their 21 children. (Good gravy, that’s a lot of kids.) I’ll probably have more to say on it later, after my coffee has coursed through my system and clears my muddled mind.

In the meantime, I am going to jot down some things that are really exciting me about 2015:

  • As an insanely but endearingly avid X-Files fan since the age of 15, I am so very excited that FOX is in talks to bring it back for a limited run. Let’s resolve some of that mythology, people! Can’t contain my excitement, and I will stop myself or I will go on and on until I have forgotten to drink water, consume nutrients, and they find “my dessicated corpse propped up staring lifelessly through the telescope at drunken frat boys peeing and vomiting into the gutter, just know that my last thoughts were of you…and how I’d like to kill you.” Ahem, I digress.
  • David Duchovny has finally written a book—Holy Cow: A Modern Day Fairy Tale, which will be my book for February, as it comes out on the 3rd and I’ve pre-ordered it from Amazon. Squee!
  • The continuation (and conclusion, sigh) of the most excellent and wonderful and fun “Times Mulder and Scully Should Have Made Out This Week” by Kelly aka The TV Mouse. Seriously, read it, love it, live it.
  • Twin Peaks will be out in 2016, and as far as I know, this year brings a book so we can find out what the characters have been up to for the last 25 years.
  • Avengers 2!
  • Star Wars! Cantankerous curmudgeon Han Solo? Yes, please!
  • The thought of spring, in which Hoth melts and the world again becomes habitable
  • This made me look out the window at all the snow, and now I can’t think of anything else. Until next time! (Which, for my own sanity, better be soon.)
